Are tarot card readings true?

Question by Katie: Are tarot card readings true?
So a couple of my friends do Professional tarot card readings and are very intuitive, so for a joke I decided to see if they came up with the same thing, and they didn’t completely but mostly along the same lines. I never believed in it before but now I am unsure, its just what they said seemed to fit in very well with my past etc. I am christian but am now rather confused. Help?

It’s arguable that they are actually true, but sometimes the coincidences of them does make you think.

We could spend days rationalizing away why a reading may or may not be “true” or if it “works”. Though this begs the question of what we mean by “true” and “works”.

I say that if you got a reading and enjoyed the experience, then it shouldn’t matter how much of the reading was psychology and how much might have been metaphysics.

Yes. They are so vague that anything can apply to anything.

As someone who was once the Queen of Skeptics, I can tell you only that I believe. I’ve seen it happen more than once and quite dramatically. Feel free to make of that what you will.

Tarot “works” because people are very good at using symbolic thought, it’s not magical in a supernatural sense, but it takes practice and a bit of talent to be consistent. We understand and “know” more than what can easily be expressed with words, symbolic thought helps us to ferret out what is important in a given situation.

When you do a tarot reading, you interpret the images on the cards in relationship to the question being asked. Two people wouldn’t give you the exact reading because there’s not some cosmic being choosing your cards for you, but two people may have similar insights to your situation if they’re both adept at interpreting the cards.

Yes they do work. I choose not to mess with them, like the ouiji board and such. I have had many psychic experiences, including ghost/entity experiences since I’ve been a young child. My family and some of my friends have went through some experiences with me and have become believers. I’ve been going in circles right along with ya. Of course mine is who is giving us the information. The knowing comes from the spirit world, but from what side, good or evil, I’ve been questioning. I’ve been working on this and hopefully my decision takes me in the right direction. So yes, it does work. How it works and who is making it work is the question. Good and evil does exist. Hope I didn’t complicate things further. But this stuff gets deep.

    Psychic here

Geeza has the right idea but.. to go farther and say that it doesn’t only rely on your personal experience but everyone that has ever had a reading done. then we have to factor in the fact that a good portion of the advertised psychics are very good con artists (hope they face their judgment one day) sorry had to vent for a second…

But back to the question…you say your “friends” are professional tarot card readers, meaning that they are regularly paid to read for people. and doing that gives them the practice needed to be better in tuned and more likely to be correct in your reading or (they just know you really well)

Never get a reading from a friend…no matter what good intentions they have, knowledge can confuse sight. The only way you are going to believe or disbelieve is if someone you do not know and have never met reads you… until then you will always question and the stories will only ever be stories.

I wrote a couple of blogs on psychic info I think might help.http://www.psychictarotreadings.net/do-psychics-really-work/

    This is what I believe:

The Tarot is a mirror of what is happening in your life, and will reflect among other things the likely outcome of your current path (if you want to change your future, you need to change your present direction). It taps into the fifth invisible element of universal consciousness.

Anyone can learn to read the Tarot with a bit of time and effort. Relying on another person to act as an agent has its drawbacks, you are potentially exposing yourself to con artists and people with inadequate training and ethics looking to make a quick buck. If you are lucky, you will find someone who you can trust. I prefer to rely on myself.

There is an excellent free course for beginners at learntarot.com.

P.S. If you are Christian (Catholic), then this is still strictly considered a no-no, as they believe that you should put your faith in the hands of “God” and not question anything, but then many other things such as contraception are also still rejected by the Catholic Church. Incidentally, the father of modern science Galileo Galilei was found guilty of heresy by the Catholic Church in the Inquisition for his theory that the earth and planets revolve around the sun and the earth is not the centre of the universe.
